How’s your June going so far?
We’ve got knitting events to make you smile in spite of the
bugs, summer traffic and the inevitable (hopefully!) heat!
TICKETS! Yes, the tickets for the 2nd Annual Yarn Cruise on the
Hudson are now available! They’re $65 each, but there is a
limit on the number of people we can take, so hurry in and get yours
– I know the cruise is Sept. 23, but it’s closer than
you think! And don’t forget to BYOP!
BOND. KNITTING BOND: Many of you have (c’mon, admit it!)
an unused Bond knitting machine in your storage areas. Well, on
June 19 from 1-4, friend of the Shop, Anne Auld, experienced machine
knitter, will be teaching Cynthia how to start using her Bond knitting
machine. Come in, see the fun, and let us know if you’d like
Anne to come and teach a class to you closet Bonders.
SSSS! No, no snakes in the shop, but it’s time for the Summer
Solstice Stash’n’Sale! Thursday, June 21, we’ll
be open til 9pm and will have lots of yarn on sale, including the
“Deadly Pool of Discount Bags”! In addition to the shop
sale, customers are invited to sit with us from 7-9 in the pop-up
in the parking lot and sell any personal stash or knitting books
that need a new home! And don’t forget that YELLOW is the
color of the month for June – 15% off all yellow yarn in the
shop thru the end of the month, limited to stock on hand.
CAMP CALL! We’ve set the dates for Fiber Camp this summer:
two sessions, July 18-20, and August 15-17. This is for kids 9-12,
and will consist of 2-hour sessions from 10am-12noon, and will run
over three days. Each session is $60. Space is limited, so register
early! We’ll be doing beginning knitted felt, wet felting
jewelry, and web scarves.
ONE IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER? Not with our summer promotion of “One-Skein
Wonders”, the book that will help your lonely skeins become
great gifts for yourself or others! Don’t have a lonely skein?
Buy the book and get your choice of a FREE BALL of Boku, Galway,
Cascade 220, or Encore. Check out some of the items from the book
that Cynthia has made with shop stock, and mark your calendar for
“Xmas in July”, July 24-28 – a event to help you
get a jump on that pesky gift knitting! “One-Skein Wonders”
will be our promo thru the end of July.
BYE-BYE, PQ, HELLO, PQS! “The Pirate Queen” may be
finished with its Broadway run as of this weekend, but the Pirate
Queen Shawl contest lives on! Design your own or check our website
for the link to the pattern (“the one-skein shawl” on
the Knitter’s Review website), or stop in and pick up a free
copy with the purchase of shawl yarn. Not comfortable channeling
your inner pirate? Let us help you pick out a yarn or pattern that
will help you get your “pyrate” on, AND win the contest
that will be judged on the Cruise! And again, don’t forget
to BYOP on the cruise!
Classes will begin after July 4. Watch the website calendar. (Yes,
the website will be updated!) Let us know if you are interested
in the youth machine sewing classes.
AS ALWAYS, keep knitting!
Regards from the Cornwall Yarn Shop Crew
