Do you remember back in the 1970s when it was popular to knit garter stitch scarves with two different needle sizes and called it Condo Knitting?
Well, while playing around with some ribbed patterns, I remembered this technique and tried it with some of my favorite yarns - Shibui Pebble, Cima and, of course, Silk Cloud. I love the subtle difference in the ribbing on each side of the scarf. The disparity in needle sizes adds texture interest as well as drape. I used a combination of a US 7 and a US 11 needle, but experiment with different needle sizes, yarns, and stitch patterns. This is a great time to use your interchangeable needle set - a different tip size on each end !
I've put together a few color combinations. The pattern is available on the website and is free with purchase of
the Shibui yarns. Be sure to mention the pattern at purchase.
