This newsletter has taken a little longer to leave the shop than hoped because we are trying out a new format. Please bear with us as we make these changes. I apologize if your name is missing or wrong. If a friend did not receive their email please extend our apologies and ask them to visit the website and add their name back to the list.

Just take a look at what we have planned for the next few weeks! Be sure to check out ShopTalk at the website. We'll be adding pictures & will be looking forward to your comments and ideas.

Vogue Knitting Trunk Show

ONE WEEK ONLY! The 25th anniversary Vogue Knitting Magazine trunk show will be at the shop Aug. 27 - 31. Come in and see these stunning items, all from the silver anniversary issue of VK Magazine! If you decide that you'd like to make a project from the magazine, buy your yarn that week and get 15% off your project purchase.

Cruise News

We are WELL on our way to a sold-out Yarn Cruise! If you haven't purchased your tickets yet, please do so ASAP. JoAnne Turcotte from The Plymouth Yarn Company, our major sponsor again this year, will be showcasing their new Bristol Yarn Gallery line and in keeping with our PQS theme, will be offering specially-priced shawl kits with 2 exclusive, new patterns (Plymouth has not forgotten about the crocheters!) available only on the cruise (for every kit purchased, $5 will be donated to the Literacy Volunteers of Eastern Orange County). And to top it off, our cruise guest will be Mary Beth Temple, author, knit-blogger, and designer of one of the new Plymouth patterns, whose latest book, "The Secret Language of Knitters" will be available at the shop - so get a copy and get it signed on the cruise!

Don't forget: the Pirate Queen Shawl contest is STILL ON; the free pattern for the one-skein shawl (which is just a suggestion) is available through our website, which also has new pictures of variations of the one-skein shawl, done by one of our customers (click on shoptalk). Judging is on the cruise itself, so don't forget your PQS!

One last reminder - The Cruise is Sunday, September 23. We will start boarding The Pride of the Hudson at 1:30, and we will leave PROMPTLY at 2:00 pm. So come early and be ready for knitting fun.

New Stuff !

BAG 'EM, DANNO! Just when you thought you were a jaded bag junkie, you see -AHHH! The Best Bag Ever! That would be our Creative Options Bag, in three colors (Bluest Blue, Chocolate and Kiwi Lime). They have been flying off the shelves since we started stocking them in early July because they are a great price and just soooo cool!

SUMMER LOVE IS OVER-RATED! Why? Because we're starting to get our new fall yarns in, and you'll want a long-term, committed relationship with at least one of them! Colorchanges from Ironstone, with great patterns, Sydney Superwash Sport for lightweight, machine-washable sweaters, Aussi Merino Sport with the barest bit of glimmer, and so many more; new Plymouth yarns, new Crystal Palace yarns; SO many new yarns! AND patterns new designers include Iknitiative, Black Purl, Knitting at Noon and Mac 'n' Me. Our deliveries are coming in at least twice a week, so stop in and see what's new up front, and in the back with our new books for knit and crochet.

BEAD-BUGS? If you took Carol Cypher's classes earlier this year, you know she had a new book coming out; and it's here! Stop in and pick up a copy of "Mastering Beadwork", or just drool over the pictures and then buy it!

YUMMY HAND-DYED GOODNESS! Gail had a SERIOUS moment of weakness on her last trip upstate, and came back with a couple of large bags of gorgeous skeins of Schaefer hand-dyed yarns! We have mostly Elaine with some Anne and a few skeins of Helena and Nancy; free one-skein patterns are available with purchase. Many knitters know and love the quality and fanastic colors of Schaefer yarns; if you've never seen them, stop in and take a look!

NO WATER REQUIRED! We are now stocking needle felting supplies! We have needles, holders, mats and roving packs for those of you who would like to embellish a knitted or felted item. This is a portable craft: as long as you have a flat surface to set your mat on, you can needle felt!

DROP AND GIVE ME FOUR! Needles, that is. SWTC SOCK BOOT CAMP will be held Sat. Sept. 15! Captain Carlotta and Master Sergeant Martha will be hitting the street during the Cornwall Fall Festival, looking for recruits, so if you want to be a sock knitter recruit, stop by our booth on Main Street. (Avid sock knitters welcome).

VINO VERITAS! Colors of the month for August are Burgundies and Greens; 15% off

those colors; limited to in-store stock only, so no WINE-ING!

ALPACA IN AUGUST? Ok, maybe not to knit just RIGHT now! But for you sharp-eyed bargain hunters, all of the Elsebeth Lavold Chunky AL and Classic AL is 30% off through the end of August and if you buy a bag, you get an extra 5% off! Great for mitts, hats, scarves and toasty warm sweaters!

COMING ATTRACTIONS: Fall classes, including pattern and chart reading; beaded wrist warmers, beginners' double-pointed needle class; knitting for felting (with in-shop felting available!) and as always, beginning and intermediate knitting and crochet classes and help sessions! And finally, watch for further info about OCTOBER-VEST!
